Crate Diggin': Anthony Parasole’s Cherished House Gems

Of all Berghain’s resident DJs, Anthony Parasole might be one of the most versatile: the Brooklyn native has been a part of New York’s deep house scene since the early 2000s, but he also plays techno in an almost surgical fashion. This is probably best demonstrated at his residency at the famed Berlin club: more often than not he can be found dominating Berghain’s cavernous downstairs floor, though on occasion he’s also known to dig into his house collection upstairs in Panorama Bar. In something of a rarity outside of his Berlin residency, this coming Saturday Parasole complements Marcel Dettmann’s 6-hour marathon set by playing a one-off house set in Room One. When we asked him to give us an idea of what we should expect to hear on the evening, he sent over a list of his most treasured deep house cuts from the 90s.

Inspiration – Kerri 'Kaoz' Chandler Presents Arnold Jarvis‬ [Freetown Inc]

This is one of the most emotional house records for me personally – it holds a very special place in my heart. The combination of striking keys and thumping drums with such meaningful lyrics sung by Arnold Jarvis is stunning. In my opinion it’s one of the master Kerri Chandler’s most perfect records.

Chateau Noir (Wild Pitch Mix)‬ – Evelyn Jean [Dig It International]

As a club, ‪Wild Pitch and this entire era of house had a tremendous influence on me and NYC in general. There are so many tracks to pick from, but this is one of my personal favourites. It’s just a driving track that sounds enormous in big rooms and creeps up to full intensity. A tremendous remix by DJ Pierre‬.

‪This entire EP is great but I love the David Morales Red Zone Mix. It's unbelievable and when it is dropped the floor goes bonkers. Such a massive track, it engulfs the room with sound. Truly inspirational.‬

How I Feel‬ – Lil' Louis [Dance Mania]

How deep can we go! This is the perfect amount of space-groove rhythm and sound, truly a masterpiece in house and techno by Lil' Louis. I play this track with such admiration and inspiration every time, and it just burns rooms white hot!‬
