Crate Diggin’: Bedouin’s top ten formative house records

Rami Abousabe and Tamer Malki make house with a delicate sensibility. In recent years they’ve released records for labels like Crosstown Rebels and All Day I Dream, showing a disposition for dreamy four to the floor that’s wrapped in warm, dripping melodies. It’s something they’re also known for bringing into their dramatic DJ sets, where the crowd’s emotions are always the key focus. As the pair are preparing to do the same thing for the first time in Farringdon this Saturday, they sent over a list of ten house cuts that helped inspire their grandiose sound.

Raze – Break 4 Love [Grove St.]

One of the first deep house records from back in 1989 that turned us on to this kind of vibe.

Röyksopp – What Else Is There? (Trentemøller Remix) [Wall Of Sound]

We’ll never forget Deep Dish playing this for the first time at Crobar NYC… mind-blowing.

Hamid – If I feat. Valentina [murmur]

One of those timeless tunes that you can listen to anywhere, and it will sound beautiful.

Cesar Merveille feat. Guti – Maayancholy (Luciano Remix) [Cadenza]

16 minutes of pure groove and soul that makes you wonder why they didn’t round it up to 20 minutes.

DJ Koze – Blume Der Nacht [Pampa]

The feeling this track gives each time is hard to describe with words... So simple yet so emotional.

Kadebostan – Love In Looxor [Freude Am Tanzen]

When you merge a bit of the past and a hint of the future, this is the sound that comes out.

Kiki – Cinema Obscura [BPitch Control]

We’ve always kept this one for special sets and occasions. Those early morning moments. Pair it with a sunrise on the side, highly recommended.

Dubtribe Sound System – Do It Now [Imperial Dub]

Lyrics that really resonated with us at the time.

Tomas Barfod – Don't Understand feat. Jeppe Kjel [Friends of Friends]

One of the most beautiful vocals ever.

Pier Bucci – Hay Consuelo (Samim Remix) [Vendetta]

One of the first Crosstown releases, and still a relevant bomb today.
