For a label that has notched up nearly 150 releases in the 20 years its been in operating, Crosstown Rebels has undoubtedly exerted a powerful wave of influence over the electronic music scene it exists within. With its releases powering the world's dancefloors, the impact Crosstown has had is simply huge. A pair of artists who not only have a lot to thank for the Damian Lazarus led institution for in giving them platform to their own productions, Magit Cacoon and Serge Devant also have a lot of time to the label's releases when it comes to filling their DJ sets. So, as they both look forward to playing as part of our Crosstown Rebels takeover in RM1 this Saturday night (June 25th), we invited Cacoon and Devant to look through their CR collections and share those tracks that they have an especially strong resonance with.

It is a classic on my list - the track is three years old but I continue to love its vocals and groove.

Art Department - We Call Love (feat. Soul Clap & Osunlade)

Serge Devant: I just love that era of Crosstown, that entire package is great. It's melodic and emotional and I particularly love how the bass line rolls in with the melody and it instantly makes a classic.

Maceo Plex - Frisky

From the same era again, I remember hearing this first at Burning Man which is also when I started hearing about Maceo Plex and became a fan of that Crosstown sound from back then. I've got many amazing memories with this tune. From that point on was inspired to dig further in that music that lead me to what I’m doing today.

This worked on me on the dance floor beautifully a few times, there's a nice energy in this one.

Maceo Plex - Can't Leave You

Nothing but positive vibes to this one, it always puts a smile on my face when I hear it. Those times of Crosstown's era were very inspiring for lot of people, including myself.

Ali Love feat. Kali - Emperor (Maceo Plex Last Disco Remix)

There's maybe a bit of overload of Maceo Plex in my list, but I wanted to pick the records that really stood out for me at that time and made an impact that is reflected in my sound today and this was one of them for sure. It's just a bomb on the dance floor.

Jonas Rathsman feat. Josef Salvat - Complex

I first heard Damian drop this at his Get Lost party in Miami this year and instantly loved the vocal, message and concept of this tune. It's a beautifully put together record and the vocals are ace from Joseph. It just all works here, I instantly wanted to give this one my own twist.
