The work of Sam Shackleton holds a particularly special place in our heart. Sonically he’s out there on a limb as one of the world’s most bold and distinctive producers, something he displayed impeccably on his fabric 55 mix, one he made completely with 22 tracks of his own unique warped material. Also known for co-running the cult imprint Skull Disco with Appleblim all those years ago, Shackleton’s a big part of that special group of producers from Bristol who’ve helped mould and steer the modern sound of underground club music – most of whom (Peverelist, Pinch, Addison Groove among them) he’ll be joining in the Tectonic hosted Room One on Friday night.
Famed for his reserve, which often gets misconstrued as secrecy, he’s now based away from the internet’s glare in Berlin. He’s known to be bunkered down in his studio as a matter of course, so, to ramp up expectations for his live set here tomorrow night we’ve put together our own playlist of some of our staff’s favourite Shackleton tracks….
