This Saturday, 10th December, fabric Records will be participating in the
Independent Label Market, a one-off event held at
Old Spitalfields Market, just a short distance from our Farringdon home.
fabric was amongst those affected by a severe warehouse fire caused during rioting in summer 2011, which caused huge losses of stock for the 165 independent labels that used the warehouse as a distribution centre. Run in association with AIM (the Association of Independent Music), the market will not only help repair some of the damage caused by the incident, but more importantly will be an opportunity for music fans to come and meet label owners and managers face-to-face to discuss releases past, present and future, as well as stock up on gifts in time for Christmas. As market organiser (and boss of Angular Records) Joe Daniel explains:
"I hope this market will be a chance for the labels to recover some of the ground lost in August and September when we had no stock. It will also be a great way to celebrate independent music in 2011 whilst wearing a silly hat and enjoying some nice mulled wine."
Every title from fabric's mix series (which recently celebrated its
10-year anniversary) will be available to purchase from the stall. Come and visit us for special offers on CDs and T-shirts, and chance your hand in our lucky dip, which will feature prizes including
fabricfirst memberships, tickets to fabric events in December, and CDs. Or just come say hello!
Other participants in the Independent Label Market include our friends at Domino, Rekids, Southern Fried and Brownswood, amongst many more.
The Independent Label Market will take place between 11am-5pm, Saturday 10th December, at Old Spitalfields Market, 16 Horner Square, Spitalfields, London E1 6EW
