High Fidelity: Netsky Loves Playaz...

Playaz hits fabric once again for another night of for forward thinking beats - this time supported by True Tiger in Room 2 and the Astrophonica family up in Room Three. Expect the best of drum & bass from DJ Hype, Andy C, and Hazard while Plastician owns Room Two helped out by Sukh Knight, a live PA from Ed Sheeran and Astrophonica bring the minimal and the technical side of d&b with Zero T, Fracture & Neptune, Rockwell and Loxy. Here to tear things up proper in Room One is Netsky - a name that will most likely be on any discerning drum & bass fan's radar. Last year he grabbed 'Best Newcomer Producer' at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards, two years after winning 'Best Upcoming Producer' - not bad at all for a 22 year old. Not happy with just making his own tunes, he's also remixed for the likes of Pendulum, Plan B, Leftfield, Audio Bullies and Swedish House Mafia. After being snapped up, he now happily resides with biggie label Hospital Records and we were eager to catch up with him to get his take on the top 5 tunes to have come from the Playaz camp. Hazard - Busted - Playaz (2007) PLAYAZ001 This was one of the first tunes I started playing on my bedroom DJ setup. This track reminds me of some great drum & bass nights back home when I was young. Badass melody! Hazard is definitely one of the producers that never failed to bring something fresh. Bungle - Good Times - Liq-Weed Ganja (2008) LIQWEED007 This was the track that made me proud to have one of my first releases on the same label, Liq-weed Ganja. I remember having this track on repeat on the beach when it just came out. Pure vibes and an amazing B side too! Hazard - Wicked So - Playaz (2009) Playaz007 The first 'drum step' tune that got really popular. I remember going to a Playaz night at fabric with Artjom Mutated Forms and hearing Hype play this for the first time. Our jaw dropped instantly. Hazard did it again! Potential Badboy ft Yush - You're Mine - Ganja (2004) RPGLP001S2 Really nice uplifting reggae influenced track. Such a strong vocal hook and definitely one of my all time favorites! This was the kind of sound that really got me in to drum & bass in the first place; I've always been a strong follower of these kind of dubby reggae sounding tracks. Original Sin - Say - Ganja (2007) RPG022 Original Sin's first release, I remember chatting about this track with my friends for ages, everybody was so looking forward to get their hands on this record. Catch Netsky in Room One at Playaz on Friday 25th February. Tickets and Info here.
