Introducing...Prosumer + Stream His Rush Hour Mix

Living and spinning records in Berlin, Prosumer aka Achim Brandenburg is a collector of rare vinyl with roots firmly grounded in the city’s underground house scene; helped somewhat by his ten years’ experience as an employee of the internationally revered Hard Wax record store. He also has a stake in the history of another of one of Berlin’s great musical institutions through his foregoing residency at Berlin's Panorama Bar where he shared endless late nights and mornings playing smoked out house sets, often next to his long lasting friend and previous production collaborator Tama Sumo. In case you've missed the pair in action previously, they're reputed to be a devastating match in the booth, so it feels good to know they'll be back sharing the same territory in Room One with double live acts Danuel Tate and Virgo Four and Hesseltime warming the floor on Saturday, 10th November. It's hard to believe this is the first time we've spoken to Prosumer but here he is talking house with a heavy heart and for some quality Rush Hour listening you can stream this latest mix he's done for them below. Hi. Achim. Good to meet you. Tell us how 2012 has been for you as we’re near the end portion of it? It has been a wild and good year for me. I was lucky to play some great festivals this summer and had a nice mix of small and bigger gigs. I am happy with the way things are going and enjoy life. How do you feel about the current clubbing situation in Berlin? Following the rallies against GEMA this summer, what's your latest position on it? Berlin is changing fast and the clublife is still going strong. I really hope that they will put a stop to GEMAs disproportionate demands, it will be hard for clubs to survive if GEMA comes through with what they want. Clubs will have a hard time putting on a programming that is not mainstream and I personally think that the smaller and more experimental places are the backbone of nightlife culture, you need to be able to experiment and not only play it safe. Where is your favourite place to go to in Berlin for inspiration and to ultimately let yourself go? Berlins magic still has not been lost and that can show everywhere, there is still people who will inspire with their creative urge and just living themselves to the fullest without putting on an act. Just roam the streets and follow your instincts and you will get there. Can you describe in more detail the relationship you share with Tama Sumo? What was the moment that first brought you together and to then become collaboration partners on Ostgut and share the unique space of Panorama Bar? I don't think that there was this ONE magic moment involved, we just got very close through sharing a lot, be it experiencing Panorama Bar or having dinner together, working on projects together or just hanging out. I have immense respect for her ability of feeling a crowd and always being spot on with fulfilling their needs without losing her very personal touch and style. And she is just an amazing person with a very big good heart that has brought a lot of joy into my life. I am just happy that i can share so much with her. Our newest project together is running a Pub Quiz night at Südblock in Berlin. Do you have a stand-out memory of playing together in Panorama Bar over the years? Can you share three tracks with us that are special to you because of this time? There are many of those special moments; I guess the strongest memory being my last night at Panorama Bar. I was very glad to have her on my side for my last hours there, you can imagine it was hard to say goodbye after all these years and I am thankful to walk the last few steps of my way there with her. Tracks that for me are directly linked to Tama are OBX "It's All We Know", I heard it for the first time in her sets and it is simply a very Tama track. Red Nail feat. Noni "Never Mind" is another one; she played it at the perfect moment one night and made everyone go berserk. And her remix of "Zooz" by Mary Boyoi was one of my highlights for this summer and will always stay dear to my heart. How are you looking to playing back in Room One with Tama and Danuel Tate (LIVE) in November? We haven't played together for a big floor for a while and I’m looking forward to doing it again, I always can rely to have a good time with her and I think we develop quite a contagious happy energy together. I love the soundsystem in Room One and am curious about the live act. Can you tell us about the remix you have planned for Murat Tepeli on Cologne based label Ava? What else is coming up from you that we should look out for? Murat has made another great track that inspired me right away, I knew from the beginning what I wanted to do with it. I’m going to do the final mix soon and I’m pretty excited about it and the release will be out this Winter. For the rest, there are no fixed plans, I will work with Tama on some more tracks in the next few weeks but there are no fixed plans for that yet. And as soon as I get my studio fully set up again, I guess I will finally work on stuff more regularly again. Can you tell us about the Rush Hour mix you recently did? How is it a reflection of the artists and labels you support? Rush Hour approached me some weeks back and asked me if I wanted to do a promo for their "The True Story Of House Music" release, I guess they knew I am a big fan of Elbee Bad. The track I start my mix with, "Just Don't Stop" is one of my all-time favourites, the track itself is so timeless and elegant and the lyrics are on point. Music has always been something that gave me strength in my life and I personally think that music makes our lives so much brighter. And that kind of message and feel is somewhere of all of Elbee Bads tracks, timeless quality music.
