"In Fields is Ed & Raoul, a globetrotting Australian and a South Londoner, exchanging ideas via email before late night studio sessions started turning into later night clubbing 'research trips' when pulling everything together in their Old Street base. Lead track 'Silverback' is full of New Order basslines and spaced out noise but it's the unexpected drops and twists that really make it sound unlike anything else I've been playing this year. "The duo take influence from dance/not dance luminaries like Arthur Russell and Caribou, standing on the edge of the floor, revelling in the moments where weird records take hold: "When we're writing, we always try and second-guess ourselves and if it sounds like something we've heard, we change it." 'Basic Look' is just as big and 'Seven' is a perfectly restrained and stripped down record to soundtrack the long cab journey back home after The Paradise Garage's after-after-party (or the overcrowded number 12 back to Camberwell Green in my case)."
