Matt Tolfrey's Top Tips For A Classic Bacon Sandwich

After a good old rave up in Farringdon there's nothing we love more than a bacon sandwich. So who better to ask for their top three places to get some real East London rashers than our pal Matt Tolfrey of Leftroom Records. The boy has had his more than his fair share of pork resolved hangovers and we love him for that. Get your bacon sarnie fix below before Tolfrey plays Room One on 16th March next to Craig Richards, Sven Weiseman live and Gavin Herily. Matt Tolfrey's Top Tips For A Classic Bacon Sandwich Being English, we know a thing or two about Bacon. I've eaten it for a long time and whenever I detox or diet it's the thing I crave the most. You can already tell I am quite passionate about the stuff, so you can understand that one of the only things I dislike about visiting the USA is that they just have streaky, crispy bacon. They don't understand the concept of a real rasher. I have lived in London for five years now and I can safely say I have had my fair share of bacon sandwiches. All of my DJ mates wind me up about it but when you like something, you like something. Here are my top tips for a classic Bacon sandwich in East London. Mess Cafe - Hackney Central - Built for speed and comfort I have been going here since 2006 and it is a no hassle, friendly cafe with great food. The Mess breakfast is spot on here and they also do amazing strawberry frappes. But if your in a hurry, about to miss your train at Hackney Central, there is nothing better than flying in here, getting your bacon sandwich in record time and still making the train! Zealand Road Coffee - Roman Road - The healthy option If you like your bacon in brown bread then look no further. We all know bacon isn't all that good for you but it tastes so damn good. If your trying to watch that weight a little and convincing yourself that your being healthy, then this is the place for you. It's a wonder the sandwich doesn't come with a calorie count on it. St John Bread and Wine - Spitalfields - For bacon when money is no object I'm not one for overspending on food, unless it is absolutely amazing. I'm not going to say to much about this one, but for £5 it better be good! Optional Extra: For the experimental out there, then get yourself down to Liberty's. See if you can guess where the bacon is? Got it? I doubt it...Head to the chocolate section, and proudly ask for the Creighton's Makin' Bacon. Simply milk chocolate with bacon flavour pieces. God I love England! Matt Tolfrey will be returning to Room One next Saturday, for more information go here.
