NEWSFLASH: fabric Presents Darkside Live in Room One this October

Back in 2011 we were privileged to present the new live incarnation of New York minimalist, Nicolas Jaar, as he ventured out from beyond the glare of his laptop screen and set about collaborating with live musicians. In working with Ian Sims on drums, Will Epstein on saxophone and keys and Dave Harrington on guitar/electronics it would appear that quite a special relationship was born with Jaar forging a bond with Harrington, who being from a traditionally rock background, was seeming a world apart. It’s that performing relationship that has birthed their collaborative project, Darkside - a project where the combined electronic and rock worlds of the musicians combines into a sound that feels like it’s been incubated in the deepest, darkest passages of psychedelia. To date the pair have released a self-titled EP on Jaar’s now defunct Clown & Sunset label in 2011 and have just recently released previews of their forthcoming debut album, Psychic. Teasing out the cosmically aligned sonics of Jaar’s falsetto yet bluesy vocal, Harrington’s layered metallic guitar workings and the unavoidably hypnotic grooves it’s the sound of an instinctive duo who we can expect to dazzle Room One at their forthcoming appearance on Monday 7th October. fabric presents Darkside Times: 7:30pm till 11pm Tickets: £15adv from www.fabriclondon.com
