Thomas Franzmann, better known to the house and techno community as
Zip, is one of those artists whose heritage extends from his own personal DJ and production repertoire. Through helming Perlon Records and many years of nurturing a humanist yet advanced edge within house music, the polymath has influenced many of the artists held today to be some of the most interesting and critically acclaimed of our time.
He has also contributed the latest release to our mix series in fabric 67, a 73 minute mix that captures the infinite after hours energy he has become so masterful in commanding. In celebration of this release we’ve created this special place within our site to house the words from his lifelong friends, creative accomplices and artists selected to feature on the mix - a place for them to share their personal thoughts on the publically elusive DJ and producer.
In this series of entries from the likes of DJ QU, Craig Richards, San Proper and Dan Curtin we are about to find how Franzmann has touched so many and how his legacy reaches into the work of so many of today’s most understatedly accomplished artists with their own words in effect painting a picture and homage to the essence of Zip.
