For house and techno in Paris, there are few parties better than RA+RE. Over the last five years the female-only collective has held a place at the vanguard of the French capital’s electronic scene, establishing a sharp sonic identity built on their staunch dedication to digging for the finest in deep house, minimal, techno and their offshoot styles. Among the crew’s key figures are Ethel & Melody, a pair who, since relocating to Berlin in 2017, have found a regular home at the city’s minimal house headquarters, Club der Visionaere and Hoppetosse. Recently they’ve been busier than ever outside of Berlin, too, including an upcoming Farringdon debut with She Made this Sunday. Before they stop by they showed us how closely their record collections align with a joint mix, which is packed with the kind of high-calibre tunes you can only stockpile with tireless hours of hunting. Here, the pair glide through smooth house pumpers to zapping techno and more celestial acid bits, all underpinned by the same joint groove they’ve scrupulously honed behind the decks in Berlin.
