Audio: Flex shares a mix of raw jungle rollers

Not many people in the scene have had a history quite like Pete Aymer, the producer and DJ better known as Flex. Before the birth of jungle and drum & bass, he was regularly playing on the seminal pirate radio stations Kool FM and Centreforce, all while holding down a job in the renowned De Underground record store. The East London shop was run by his brother Mike De Underground, Uncle 22 and Randall, and it paved the way for De Underground Records to launch within its walls. Here he became a resident studio engineer, producing a vast array of tunes in a period that marked the transformative shift from hardcore to jungle. Flex and Randall then famously went on to create Mac II Recordings in 1996, a label that continuously aims to look forward whilst staying humble to the scene’s roots. Ahead of his set with Trex at Mac II’s upcoming FABRICLIVE showcase, Flex has provided us with this raw, rolling mix packed with future classics and dubplates – a glimpse into what one may expect from him when he drops by.
