Audio: Fur Coat share a sleek techno mix
If you’ve been to see Fur Coat play in the last few years, it’s likely you heard them playing techno. The Venezuela pair are one of the sound’s leading names out there these days, but their approach hasn’t always relied on glistening melodies and dramatic breakdowns. The duo famously broke through with the dancefloor hit You And I on Crosstown Rebels in 2012, an unremittingly modern deep house track that resonated universally with a generation of clubbers and DJs alike. They quickly became stalwarts of Damian Lazarus’ camp and the hugely popular sound championed by the label, but after launching their own Oddity imprint, they smoothly transitioned into exploring darker terrain. The pair used Oddity as an outlet to embrace a contemporary style of techno, an evolution that’s also seen them releasing music on Joseph Capriati’s imprint, Redimension. Ahead of joining the Naples champion at his label showcase in Farringdon next weekend, they sent us a mix covering the type of sleek techno sound they’re now known for.
