Audio: Seba takes a dive into his liquid funk sound world

Seba Sebastian Ahrenberg is one of drum & bass’ true individuals. The Swedish producer may not have put out as many records as some of his contemporaries over the last two decades, but everything he releases passes one simple test: when you play a Seba record for the first time, you can instantly tell it’s one of his. Following in the footsteps of guys like LTJ Bukem and Peshay, Ahrenberg developed an early taste for impossibly deep liquid funk, a sound he began championing via his club night, Secret Operations. Early in his career he was putting out records in the same vein via Bukem’s Looking Good outlet, before his club night spawned a label with the same name and mindset. Over the years he’s become one of D&B’s most revered figures, rarely in the spotlight but always known for his highly emotive approach to club music at 170BPM. Next Friday he makes his first Farringdon appearance in six years at FABRICLIVE, and ahead of joining us, he sent us a mix covering the kind of introspective territory we know him best for. Drawing from his own back catalogue and a string of more recent dubplates, here he takes a deep dive into his unique sound world.
