Part of Manchester’s somewhat irrepressible Hit & Run collective, Sivey is firmly forming his mark across the electronic arena with a dancefloor direct style that’s heavily driven by his UK garage and R&B influences. Yeah, ok, so we know that it sounds like there is nothing particularly original in that description, people have been writing introductory lines like that seemingly forever now, but we can’t stress enough, how clear it is that Sivey’s ability to suck in elements of modern funk, neo-soul and hip hop helps him assert himself in a pretty individual way - as a DJ and as a beatmaker. His upcoming appearance here at FABRICLIVE live this Friday night will certainly a critical moment for the blossoming producer, with him having only recently emerged on the DJ circuit the past couple of years. Much like his fellow Hit & Run associate, Werkha, Sivey seems to possess a real a present knack for composition and he presents that here in this exclusive mixtape in a number of ways. Drawing for unique records with slyly awkward rhythms, meshing them with tracks that boast oodles of soul and physically making it all fit and flow together isn’t an impossible task by any means, but Sivey seems bound to do it with a very welcome and expressive panache.
