Tyke first starting releasing his own take on drum & bass in 2008, putting out music on his own Dead or Alive Music label. Since then the former graffiti artist has gone on to work with a number of labels including Muzik Hertz, Source Recordings and Sonic Art. It was after getting the stamp of approval from Ram Records boss Andy C on his Nightlife 5 CD with his Recipe collaboration, ‘The Music Makers’, though that Tyke found family and signed exclusively with Twisted Individual’s Grid Recordings.
His The Music Makers EP was the first thing that cemented his relationship with Grid but his subsequent singles, ‘Infected Headphones’ and ‘Drug Pusher’ have continued to develop the partnership further garnering support from Annie Mac and Annie Nightingale on BBC Radio 1. His 6 track EP, Nightmares is forthcoming on the label next month.
Ahead of his Room One appearance this Friday night, Tyke put together this 30 min mix to display the kind of sounds you can expect from him come Playaz.
