In conversation with Mixmag recently Hotflush label boss Scuba spoke about the core principles for the imprint… “The label started out as an unrealistically grandiose project intending to release all different kinds of music with the logo acting as a seal of quality rather than an indication of how the record might sound,” he states. “[It was] run by me and a friend (who quickly realised what a bad idea the whole thing was and left to get a real job).” Put simply Hotflush was founded on good and original music that stands out in the constant flurry of background noise and it’s this approach that has put them at the forefront of all that’s leading edge and in electronic music which has, in turn, earned them this spot as ‘Label of the Week’ on Mixmag.
