Introducing: Maribou State & Their FABRICLIVE Promo Mix

After several releases on the Southern Fried label, the fresh faced Maribou State duo have achieved a reputation akin to peers like Bondax and Disclosure - in that they make melodic dancefloor music that seems to be informed more by their own enthusiasm for making music as much as it is anything else. Typically lush and driven in 4x4 their sound draws on field recordings, live instrumentation and more. Ahead of their appearance in Room Two this Friday at the album launch for Nu:Logic's What I've Always Waited For record on Hospital Records, we asked Maribou State to introduce themselves the best way we know how, through them selecting and arranging records... Download: Maribou State – FABRICLIVE Promo Mix How would you describe the music you make in more detail? Our sound definitely touches on the lighter side of electronic music, and in general, has a pretty laid-back feel to it. We always try to use some form of live instrumentation in each track we make, or throw in a few field recordings here and there, to bring the main focus away from the digital side of things, even though it’s all processed in a sequencer. You’ve already had releases on Southern Fried, what else have you been working on recently? Can you let us in on any forthcoming releases? We currently have another single ready to go with Southern Fried, it features vocals from the lovely Holly Walker. Something we're also very excited about is our forthcoming official remix of Fatboy Slim's 'Praise You'. Initially created as an edit to play in our DJ sets, we're now happy to confirm its release in June on Skint Records. Can you tell us a bit about the mix you’ve made for us? It's a short mix that showcases the side of dance/electronic music that we're into it. More of a collection of tracks that we're currently feeling and music that we try and implement into our DJ sets. It includes some field recordings from recent travels, edits, tracks from future remixers and collaborations. It’s kind of a road map to what were up to. Whats next for you guys? We have a lot on this summer with our live plot and are very excited to get into the festival season! We have a new project that's currently underway with our good friend Jack (Pedestrian), that should see the light of day by the end of Summer. Another EP is currently being written for Southern Fried and past that I’m not really sure… Catch Maribou State in Room Two this Friday.
