Crate Diggin: Jus Now's 10 Bristol Underground Classics

DJ Krust & Saul Williams - Coded Language
Jus Now: DJ Krust is just a next level dude. I think he must have been about 20 years ahead of his time with this tune here, it was released in 1999 and listening to it today it still sounds so futuristic! I could quite easily do a list of 10 Krust records from the vaults but this one is possibly my favourite.Joker - Stuck In the System
Joker is a ridiculous talent, he’s made so many smashers over the years. This was the first track of his I ever heard and it totally blew me away! I’ve got a feeling he was only about 16 when he made this one!The Wild Bunch - Look of Love
I'm too young to remember the Wild Bunch but anyone who knows anything about Bristol Music knows how influential they were. It always intrigues me that so many of the classic tracks from that era were covers of Burt Bacharach songs, this cover features a beautifully raw, seemingly one take performance from Shara Nelson, who went on to sing Unfinished Symphony amongst other songs.Pinch ft Yolanda - Get up
Pinch is def like the Bristol Bass Godfather! He has done so much for Bristol's Underground music scene and continues to do so. This track was part of his seminal Underwater Dancehall LP and it features for me one of Bristol's greatest voices; Yolanda Quartey.Smith & Mighty - B Line Fi Blow
If Pinch is the Godfather Bristol Bass then Rob Smith is the Grandfather!! Smith and Mighty are the true original dons of Bristol Music!Addison Groove - Footcrab
Massive game changing record from the don that is Addison Groove.Break & Die - Slow Down
Absolute behemoth of a dub record from two of the biggest dons of the genre. Drum and bass don’t get much better than this if u ask me!Superisk - Find Your Way
Find Your Way by the homie Superisk Is def an underground Bristol classic, Superisk is prob a bit of an unsung hero in the Bristol dub step and Grime scene.Breakbeat Era - Our Disease Tera
Bristol Jump up jungle music at its finest. Instant rewind tune!!Redlight - Planet X
There have been very few DJ sets over the past few years when i haven’t drawn for this tune. Redlight or Clipz as he was formally know has been a huge influence to me over the years both as a creative and a person.Tags
