High Fidelity: The Guiding Tracks Of Doc Martin

Doc Martin needs little introduction for those who have been tracking the developments of quality underground beats over the last twenty years. Anyone who knows Doc like we do, knows he affirms a genuine music gift, embracing the pure explosion of house - in all it's shade from deep to acid and techno tinged, no matter the decade it was dropped and solely for the spirit it embodies. We consider ourselves lucky to be in the company of an educator like Doc once again this Saturday as he saddles up to Terry Francis for a night long lesson in the music he loves most. Here's an introduction from the man himself with fifteen of his most influential tracks... Bobby Konders-Nervous Acid I remember that everyone was rocking the poem on the other side. I heard this song and it just blew my mind. Acid house at it's best! The cool thing about Bobby is that his focus was on reggae music. This was kind of a secondary thing for him. When we brought him out to play he played 50% Reggae. Plez-Thing for you This was on for the dancers. Deep dirty sweaty house. Just the way we like it. Serious deep mover! Tropical Moon-Jungle House Tracks like this kind of started the whole West Coast sound.Filthy bass and conga driven music. Age Of Chance -Times Up This eighties pop band did an about face when this came out. Pink Floyd samples and all. Chez Damier & Ralph Lawson-A Dedication to Joss An emotional piece of music by Chez and the Mayor of Leeds Ralph Lawson of 2020 Vision Fame.I was hanging with Ralph and the Basics crew when this came out. Kind of a Cali underground hit. DJ Sneak-Disco Erotika I met DJ sneak in Chicago at Gramophone Records in 93 (where he worked at the time). We have been friends ever since. He said check out my new record.I almost fell on the floor when I heard this.I couldn't believe that I new someone who made such a dope record. Many try to imitatebut there is only one Sneak. Fury-Pain Murk under the name Fury. I know it's not their biggest record but it sure hits the spot.Oscar and Ralph my Miami Brothers have definitely got their place in the history books. Sasha-Heavenly Trance Not that Sasha, but Sasha Marvin from Italy. An unsung hero in my book. This is a wonderful morning track that still stands up today. Pacha-One Kiss(FOS RMX) This Santana infused record never fails and reminds me of many outdoor parties.Fathers of sound hit all the right notes on this record. Instant House-Awade - (Joe's Jungle dub) Joe Clausell when he was starting to really bust out in New York. Brings me back to many warehouse parties.Wonderful soul that Joe. Angel Moreas- Heaven Knows(Angels Factory Dub) Takes me back to many a late nights at the Sound Factory in NYC. It was Definitely the fabric/Panorama Bar of it's time. Going well into Sunday afternoon. The thing about it was that the dancefloor was huge but felt intimate. Super mixed and always an adventure! Definition Of Sound -Pass The Vibes(Warp 9) This has a cheeky nobody's got time vibe to it.It was a secret weapon until now. MK-Feel The Fire When Mark Kitchen busted out he changed the game. I believe this came out before burning. This has a lot more energy to it then you would think. Liz Torres-Can't Get Enough Master C + J are god and that's all I have to say about it!
