In photos: An Evening Of Words & Music With Patti Smith at St. Paul's Cathedral
On Wednesday 18th September 2024, fabric returned to the majestic surrounds of St. Paul’s Cathedral for the second instalment in our special series of events at this iconic London landmark. This time, we welcomed the legendary Patti Smith for a truly unforgettable evening of music and words.
Following the success of our first sold-out show with RY X in 2023, we once again stepped beyond our Farringdon home, this time curating a deeply moving and intimate performance from one of the most influential artists of our time. Patti Smith’s presence within the hallowed walls of St. Paul’s was nothing short of spellbinding.
Joined on stage by longtime collaborators Tony Shanahan on piano and her son Jackson Smith on guitar, Patti delivered a mesmerising set that blended poetry, storytelling, and song—infused with the raw emotion and power that has defined her storied career. The evening opened with an elegant and immersive live performance from the ever-talented FAUZIA, setting the tone for what would become an extraordinary night of artistry and reverence.
As one of London’s most historic and architecturally awe-inspiring venues, St. Paul’s Cathedral provided the perfect backdrop for this unique and emotive event. Situated on Ludgate Hill, the highest point in the City of London, the Anglican cathedral has long stood as a symbol of resilience, creativity, and grace—qualities that resonated through every moment of Patti’s performance.
The 18th of September 2024 will be remembered as a night of profound connection, where music, poetry, and place came together in harmony. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Patti Smith, Tony Shanahan, Jackson Smith, FAUZIA, and the incredible team at St. Paul’s Cathedral for helping us create something truly magical.
Look back on moments from the evening – a stunning visual record of a night that will stay with us forever.
