ArtDontSleep: A Love Supreme

LA's beat scene has been a deep well of creativity for some time now, with a broad spectrum of artists making some of the most forward thinking music around. Given that the LA beatsmiths occupy a sizeable chunk of office airtime here at fabric, you can imagine our delight when we stumbled across this incredible jam session featuring some serious talent. ArtDontSleep is a project run by LA based promoter Andrew Lojero; a collective of like-minded Los Angeleans - from musicians to artists - and his first project in 2007, 'From LA With Love,' was an incredible compilation that was put together to expose the wealth of talent rolling in his circles - from Madlib to Exile to Gaslamp Killer to Flying Lotus to Take and so on. Here, in the first of five freestyle jam sessisons some of the crew take on John Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme' riff - 25 minutes of pure bliss. The band includes the awesome Computer Jay on keys, Sa-Ra's Shafiq Husayn on drums and broken beat ledge Mark De Clive-Lowe on keys and MPC. The full band list is below...
