Even if you’re not a regular frequenter of our night club, you’ll probably have heard a little something of Manchester emcee Chunky’s voice. As the resident emcee with the Swamp81, Hoya:Hoya, Hit & Run and Hessle Audio labels his cloaked and quickly recognisable Manchester accent features a lot in our programming. But aside from our tiny geographical footprint, the dude travels, a lot, hosting an innumerable number of sets as he goes. He also regularly features on Rinse FM, hosting the Swamp81 show and he’s also released a four track EP of his own productions on Swamp, showcasing a very different skill set but one that’s still as devoted to loud music in darkened club spaces. And it’s actually quite odd, that considering how much Chunky performs at our club, both as an emcee and as a DJ, we’ve never really asked him to select a few tracks, pass us a few words or answer any of our questions. So as the first step on the long road to realigning our guilty shakra, Chunks has kindly put together a fifty minute mix that as well as outlining the way he plays, serves as a preview of the vibes you can expect when he plays in the Hoya:Hoya hosted Room Two on Friday 4th April.
